It's now been a year since I first launched my business and published my website for the world to see.
In late 2018 I decided to sign up to study towards a Diploma in Wedding Planning, Styling and Design with The Wedding Academy (they no longer offer this exact course following a rebrand but you can find out more about the new courses they offer here.)
There are a lot of schools out there that offer this kind of course but the reason I chose The Wedding Academy was the in-depth, multimedia content they offered, the step-by-step guides, templates and cheat sheets available and the weekly live tutorials they ran which meant that the Academy was active and content was staying relevant and updated.
When you sign up, you’re connected to a mentor, someone who has worked in the industry themselves and is able to guide you through the process of building your own business. There’s also lifetime access to all of the content so while the price tag might be high the experience you gain and the material you have access to is invaluable.
The Academy has over 12 years of experience and has launched over 4,000 careers in the wedding industry and you can’t beat statistics like that.
The course content is split down into modules and covers everything from writing a business plan to how to work with flowers. There’s plenty of worksheets on the way to help you grow and by the end, you will have put together a portfolio for your fictional client. I enjoyed this part so much and it gave me a real insight into what goes into planning a wedding and prepared me for working with real clients.
Even though I’ve now graduated I still feel very much a part of The Academy by staying connected with the private student Facebook group.
I’d highly recommend The Wedding Academy if you’re looking to start a career in Wedding Planning or Styling or wanting to brush up on your knowledge. I’d only wish I’d done it sooner!
